According to reports, Opel is thinking to reset the legendary coupe of the 1990’s with a new generation of Calibra, which will be based in the Monza concept and Cascada. For four years there are rumors of a revival of the Opel Calibra, a popular coupe in the 1990’s but still has not received a green light to production. Indeed, the president of General Motors in 2010, Nick Reilly, had confirmed that the new generation of the model is in the works and that 2013 will be debuted. But this never happened.
On the other side, newer publications say that the Opel has not abandoned the idea of the new Calibra and is working on the new design. In fact, reports indicate that the new generation of the coupe will receive influences from Monza, a futuristic prototype, which was presented last September in Frankfurt. Another characteristic is that this prototype looks like it will be the basis for other models, as we published yesterday that the Monza will lend elements of design and the new upcoming large SUV of Opel.
Done to return to the new generation of Calibra, reports speak of a potential in design model, with 2 +2 seating layout and design language that refers also to the new cabriolet Cascada. As for the debut of the new Calibra, Opel keeps the silent but our sources indicate that it will be in the near future.
