Honda has unveiled the latest generation of the FCEV Concept, an electric vehicle that will be launched in 2015 and equipped with a fuel cell system performance 136 hp, while autonomy reaches 480 km. The FCEV is a prototype electric vehicle with fuel cell system, which is the latest version of a project that keeps 20 years, with the previous version FCX and FCX Clarity. This concept is therefore a precursor to a production model that will be launched in 2015 initially in the Land of the Rising Sun and then in Europe, as announced by the Japanese brand.
In particular, the FCEV Concept design has quite aggressive style with aerodynamic lines. It also offers a comfortable interior space and seating for five passengers, thanks to the reduced capacity requirements of the drive system. In mechanical level now, the FCEV of Honda will include significant technological improvements in fuel cell stack compared to the previous FCX Clarity yielding over 136 horsepower, with power density now 3kW/l, an increase that reaches 60% compared with the current knowledge.
Note that the production model Honda FCEV provided to offer a range of over 480 miles with short refueling time about three minutes at 70 MPa. In this context, Thomas Brachmann, project manager of Honda in Europe said: Continuing the tradition twenty years on top of fuel cell technology and the FCX FCX Clarity, the FCEV Concept paves the way for the next generation of fuel cell vehicles and heralds future improvements in technology electrification. Although original promises a perfectly realistic future.
