The Porsche 944 S is part of high performance sports car collection that is produced by the renowned German auto market. It was released in the market during 1982 as a replacement for the 924 model. Although this is the case, the two cars are sold side by side. The production of 944 S stopped in early 90’s when they created the 968. During the 80’s this was a huge success. Aside from the 944 S, there are other models that have evolved like 944 turbo and 944S2. The first 944 was equipped with a 2.5L engine. It has been updated with body work and got improved parts like engine and brakes. The first change was done in 1985. Its interior is practical and the radio antenna is set up on the windshield. Other revisions include large fuel tank, heated seats and more. For the wheels, the 944s has phone dial style type of wheels

Before they launched the 944S, they introduced the turbo which was a high performance car. The standard engine is turbocharged and intercooled that gives off 220 hp. This turbo version featured several modifications like improved aerodynamics, wide wheels and good suspension. Finally the super version which is the 944 S was introduced with safety features like air bags and anti lock braking system. There were other options for the basic model. This 944S has a little more edge because of its 16 valve engine. You can also find other slight improvements to the car compared to other two previous models. The 944 turbo S is equipped with a good engine that can go with 250 hp. The 1987 944 comes with anti lock brakes which was an available feature. Years after, the air bags became standard equipments on all the 944 models. The S package means standard. The 944 engine was increased to 2.7L. Its predecessor was the 944S2 which has 3.0L engine. This has the same round nose and the body of a Turbo model. The S2 is also available in cabriolet. This is the first in the 944 collection.

During the early 90’s the engineers of Porsche began to work on the third generation of 944 which is the s3. The company invested very well on the development process. They realized that there are so many parts that they needed to change. It comes to a point that you have created a brand new car. Porsche did make changes on their plans and started to develop the S3. This is a car model that would replace the 944s and all other related models. It was called Porsche 968 which was released in 1992. It was sold together with 928 however the models were discontinued in the middle of 90’s.
