Three days after the end of the Formula 1 World Championship, with the incredible race in Brazil, comes a web video throwing suspicion on the triumph of Sebastian Vettel. Looking at the Red Bull car camera you see the German driver passing Toro Rosso under a yellow flag, albeit in a very limit as the panel turns green only a few moments later.
The video seems to refer to the fourth round, when the world champion was still at the 18th position and was catching up. If the commissioners had judged irregular running they would have dealt a drive-through to Vettel or 20″ penalty if the judgment had come after the finish line. In the latter case the German would be dropped from sixth to eighth position, actually delivering the title to Fernando Alonso by one point.
In Spain they are ‘caliente’ on the matter and ask the criminalization of the Red Bull driver and to reverse the ranking. But what will happen? Probably nothing, because Ferrari does not seem willing to make any appeal to officially open the case. In the absence of requests from Maranello, the FIA is unlikely to intervene directly.
