Aesthetics: new details
The redesign of the Volkswagen Touareg- distributed to date in more than 700,000 copies- does not alter the aesthetics of the car greatly, but it has refined some aesthetic details and brings it closer to the last design language of Volkswagen. The front of the Teutonic SUV gains a newly designed grille with four chrome trim, which separates the headlights redesigned and equipped with Xenon technology. Even the bumper fascia has been replaced with a new element, while the rear of the car features changes and is more limited due to the adoption of a new bumper, used to accommodate the exhaust fans and the unusual discharges. Among the innovations that come with the renewed model is the unusual metallic colours: Light Silver, Sand Gold, Moonlight Blue, Blue Reef and Black Oak Brown. On request, you can also customize the car with a wide range of light-alloy wheels, available in sizes 18,19 , 20 and 21 inches, and you can opt for tinted rear windows of 65% and 90%.
Cockpit: more luxury and technology
The update has also affected obviously the interior of the German SUV, making it even more luxurious and comfortable with the addition of sophisticated finishes and the introduction of a brand new infotainment system. The upholstery can be personalized with the elegant Vienna leather upholstery, available in a variety of tint: Bonanza Brown, Titan Black, Natural Corn Silk Beige and Brown, while for the more demanding the Nappa leather upholstery is also available in new color combinations of light sand St. Tropez. The new Touareg takes the sophisticated multimedia device RNS 850, which from the next autumn will be available in Europe with the functions of mobile online services, capable of integrating research points of interest through Google services such as Google Maps, Google Earth and Street View, not to mention the ability to check real-time traffic information.
Mechanics: diesel, petrol and hybrid
The engine range of the revised Volkswagen Touareg will remain unchanged. Various European markets will feature the diesel engine 3.0-liter V6 TDI and 3.0 TDI V8, declined in versions from 204 hp, 258 hp and 340 hp, while on the petrol one you will find the V6 and V8 turbo V8 FSI and TSI. The range will also place the sophisticated variant with hybrid drive Touareg Hybrid, having 380 hp and 580 Nm of torque and capable of offering a combined fuel economy of just 8.2 l/100 km, not to mention the opportunity to travel to 50 km in electric mode.
