The new Peugeot will be presented in the upcoming Paris Motor Show (September 29 to October 14). After the restyling of the RCZ, it is for the Onyx Concept: a prototype supercar, environmentally friendly thanks to the hybrid engine. It was built with a structure made of carbon fiber and with dimensions rather contained. It will be a car with decidedly important performance, thanks to the 600 horsepower engine.
Its dimensions are: 4.65 meters long, 2.20 wide and 1.13 high only; the Onyx Concept has a sporty and sensual line with wings and doors made from a sheet of pure copper. The front combines the upright grille and full LED headlights, the tapered shape, the roof is double bubble while the taillights adopt the bright three claws characteristic signature of Peugeot. There is a lot of technology in the cockpit with a rear camera and a tablet with touch screen in the dashboard.
This prototype is powered by the V8 HDi FAP hybrid 3.7-liter and has 600 horsepower, mated to a sequential six-speed gearbox. There is a system of recovering energy during braking, combined with lithium-ion battery which can guarantee a higher power of 80 hp. Among other technical features are the active suspensions, special tires developed by Michelin with 20-inch alloy wheels and carbon-ceramic brake discs.
