DAB, or Digital Audio Broadcasting, radios have become the norm in our everyday lives. Whether you tune in in your kitchen or are regularly woken by a DAB radio alarm clock, it is becoming increasingly apparent that standard radios are a thing of the past.
Offering a wealth of stations and features that standard radios simply can’t compete with, it’s easy to see why the shift in popularity has occurred. Even the motoring world is starting to make the switch, with more cars than ever featuring this top piece of tech.
In fact, according to figures released by Digital Radio UK, 45.2 per cent of new cars were fitted with DAB radios as standard in Q1 2014. This figure shows an increase of 2.4 per cent, compared with the 42.8 per cent of vehicles in Q4 2013.
Various manufacturers have unveiled new car models with these radios as standard too, with the new Peugeot 108 being a prime example as AutoTrader reports. With this in mind, these figures look set to increase even further.
However, what about those of us who invested in vehicles before the dominance of DAB? Fortunately, we needn’t start looking for a buyer for our beloved cars! Rather, there’s a simpler solution available.
Specialist car audio companies like In Car Connections stock DAB aerials that will allow your car to pick up all of your favourite stations, on both FM and DAB. However, you will need a DAB tuner, although these can be found at affordable prices. Just think, it will still be cheaper than buying a new car!
