The working week is close to an end and as every weekend comes the date with the car from the movies. After being abroad in the last episodes, we returned in Europe with a historic car: the Alfa Romeo Spider also called Duet. The car of the Italian company was used in the first successful movie of the great American actor Dustin Hoffman: The Graduate, American film of 1967.
The car is one of the most famous branded in Milan and has been in production for 27 years, between 1966 and 1993. Its official title was 1600 Spider, but was soon called Duet after a competition launched by Alfa Romeo. This name officially lasted just one year, the same name as a snack with chocolate and the claim of the producer, but in the ideal town it was always linked to the car.
There were four generations of Spider ‘Duetto’, even if the vehicle used in the film was from the first series. Produced from 1966 to 1969 its name was named ‘Bone sepia’, due to the shape, which recalled the shell of the mollusk with front and rounded tail. It was powered by the 1.6-liter 106 horsepower (also used in the Giulia Sprint GT), with 180 km / h top speed and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 10 seconds.
