How can you take something good and make it even better? The refresh on specific points with small and thoughtful interventions is the best choice. That’s what Alfa Romeo did in the renewal of Mito. Although this car has been around for almost six years and has been proven as great car for road trips or traveling, it still looks as fresh and vibrant as the first day of its presentation. That was why the Italian company spent hardly any time for any aesthetic model update. Thus the name Mito MY2014.
The changes in the new Mito are on the new grille with chrome frame, in a slightly altered interior with new materials that further incorporates the new Uconnect system with color 5 inch touch screen and the optional navigation system. The color palette has also the Antracite gray. These enhance the style to keep the interest of the public alive for many years.
More specifically it combines dynamism and style and adds extra items to Mito’s equipment. This includes 18 inch Quadrifoglio Verde alloy wheels with 215/40 tires, an external “Sportiva” logo, satin exterior mirror covers, satin boxes on front and back lights , satin exterior door handles, dark headlights, distinctive rear spoiler, sports rear bumper with diffuser, black liner on the inside and roof clad seats of cloth and alcantara, leather steering wheel with green stitching, sports cluster instrument with white illumination and aluminum door sills with the logo of Quadrifoglio Verde.
Under the hood we find no surprises as it still has the 1.3 JTDM-2. It is a product of FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies) and has a capacity of 1,248 cc, direct injection of Common Rail technology, common feed line and a variable geometry turbo. It delivers 85 horsepower and the torque stands at 200 Nm culminating at just 1,500 rpm.
The car has a standard Start / Stop system which seems to be working better than in the older model and generally than we are used to the other Italian cars. The Italian factory announces that at 100 km Mito consumes just 3.5 liters. Furthermore, except from the low fuel consumption, another advantage is that the owner will not have to pay road taxes in many countries, as the chrome exhaust of the car emits only 90 grams of CO2 per km. In terms of safety Alfa Romeo MiTo has received top marks in tests of active and passive safety and it is one of the safest cars on the market, as demonstrated by the five stars it got in the Euro NCAP test.
