The new Mercedes SL has won a major award, referring to innovations on the body: the EuroCarBody Award 2012. More than 500 automotive experts have chosen the worldwide best body made and voted it as the number 1 roadster. The assessment was based on criteria relating to design and construction, development and application of materials, production efficiency and customer benefits.
In particular, the new SL has convinced the experts with the new aluminum shell, resulting of about 110 kg lighter than a steel body of a comparable model. Combining the other elements of the car, you get to save 140 kg over the previous generation, contributing to a more agile driving performance and sporty with a huge reduction in consumption.
In advance since last December, the sixth generation of this model will arrive in dealerships in Europe by the end of March with two available engines, respectively, with 306 and 345 horsepower. Speaking of prices, the 350 starts at € 98,070, while the 500 is on sale at € 117,057.
