One of the cars you would definitely want to have for your trips is the brand new Skoda Octavia Scout 4×4. Since its first appearence in early March, at the Geneva Motor Show, its differences with the basic edition of Octavia Combi have made the difference. It has a more dynamic off-road look as well as a lot of off-road capabilities, improved climbing abilities and greater pulling power. The sophisticated all-wheel drive based on the latest generation of coherent Haldex clutch is also greatly appreciated. And of course, another great advantage is that in its reduced consumption by 20 % compared to the basic edition.
This unique four-wheel drive with the 2.0 version TDi 184hp with DSG presents an enviable proposal for both the highway and the off-road trails.
The modern crossover retains all the great features of the third generation of the Octavia, such as generous seating, the emphasis on practicality, the high security and advanced safety systems and, last but not least, comfort.
The front is distinguished by the exclusively designed black bumper. Under the wide, centrally located air intake with honeycomb design is a silver apron, essential for an off-road car, and the Scout lights, specially designed for this model, that are positioned low on the bumper.
The ground distance has been increased by 33 mm and reached the 171. The space for passengers and their luggage is among the largest in the category, with a storage capacity of 610 to 1740 liters.
The coherent 5th generation Haldex clutch continuously calculates an ideal torque distribution to the rear axle. In coasting or low engine load, the movement is transmitted to the front wheels only, for less consumption. Its smooth motion at low speeds is ensured by the standard electronic differential lock (EDS). It works for both the front and rear axle. Even if a wheel spins on soft ground, the available torque is automatically transferred to the opposite while the one spinning is braked.
There are three engines, a petrol one and two diesel ones. The top option is the diesel 2.0 TDi 184 hp, only with automatic dual clutch transmission (DSG) of 6 gears. Acceleration 0-100 km/ hr is achieved in 7.8′‘, with a top speed of 210 km/ hr. Its average fuel consumption is that of just 5.4 litres/100 kilometers and the CO2 emissions are 143 g./ km. Moreover, the diesel 2.0 TDi engine of 150 hp has a consumption of 4.9 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 129 g./ km. Its acceleration for the 0-100 is 9.1” with a top speed of 207 km./ hr.
The petrol 1.8 TSi engine with its 180 hp has the automatic DSG 6-gear gearbox. Its consumption is that of 7.1 litres/100 km and its CO2 emissions are 159 g./ km. For its acceleration for the 0-100 km/ hr, 7.8” are needed and its top speed is 216 km/ hr.
