Consumer Report’s 2015 Top Cars List Excludes Truck Models

The car industry has been as vibrant as ever and once again it is time for Consumer Report to pick its top cars for 2015.

  • The Best Overall Car award goes to Tesla Model S, a high-performance automobile with a luxurious appeal. For the second time in a row, CR picked this car the world’s best, after garnering an almost perfect road-test grade of 99/100.

  • As for SUV’s, CR picks Subaru Forester for the small SUV department and Toyota Highlander for midsize SUV ranges for their practicality, utility and smart interiors.

  • Honda’s Odyssey is CR’s choice for Best Minivan or family sedan, providing the most enjoyable ride than its counterparts.

  • For the sporty consumers out there, CR recommends its Best Sports Sedan – Buick Regal, which according to the team of experts, offers perfect balance between comfort and sportiness.

  • However, if buyers want a sedan with the finest luxury they better opt for the famous Audi A6. The car’s fine interiors, superb handling and classy finish are hard to ignore, making it CR’s Best Luxury Sedan 2015.

  • Another Subaru joins in the list: Legacy finds its way into CR’s Best Midsize Sedan providing the most comfortable driving experience in its department.

  • For car owners who want to switch to a greener option, CR suggests they buy Toyota Prius, which remains the top pick in its category, Best Green Car, for 12 years now.

  • This year marks GM’s comeback in the field of manufacturing impressive family cars. Its f is this year’s Best Large Car, overtaking Lexus 350 and Toyota Avalon.

What is striking, however, is that CR has not named any truck in its list of awardees this year. The car review authority explained that the lack of an impressive pool of trucks made it impossible to come up with a trustworthy pick for this year’s Best Truck.

There are of course a few new trucks released this year such as the GMC Canyon, RAM 1500 and Ford F-150, but CR is quick to say that either they do not have enough data to evaluate the trucks or the models simply are not reliable enough.

Each year, Consumer Reports releases an evaluation of cars sold in the US, based on track tests, reliability, performance, among other things.
