Recently the first ever production model sold for over £100,000 at auction after being found abandoned and restored by a fan of the classic vehicle, which you can read more about here. They truly are magnificent machines, ideal for exploring the world.

Purchasing a Range Rover

Don’t be put off by that price tag for a second hand Range Rover though; nowadays there are plenty of drivers foolishly willing to let their beasts go for a much more reasonable amount. ExchangeAndMart.co.uk have a great ‘range’ of Land Rover Range Rovers for sale of all ages, from bargains on older models to cut price deals on some of the newest varieties.

All Range Rovers produced since the third generation (2002 onwards) are automatic, meaning if you’re looking for one with manual transmission it will have to be from the boxier-styled first or second production lines. The newer third, and most recent fourth generations, still maintain all the elements of a standard Range Rover but with a more modern gleam. So take some time to consider whether you value the gearing system or appearance to find the Range Rover that suits you best.

Powering Up

Aside from the standard models there are also the Range Rover Evoque and Sport. While the Evoque has a much sleeker design it is more of a luxury vehicle aimed at the urban driver. For real exploration nothing beats the Range Rover Sport. Available with diesel or petrol engines, numerous improvements have been made to the model since its inception ten years ago.

The newest SVR design (set to be released in 2015) features a smoother design in a similar vein to that of the Evoque, 21-inch alloy wheels and a fully revised front bumper which makes it look all the more appetising. An improved supercharged 5.0l V8 engine and the ability to do 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds make it perfect for steaming across countryside.

Getting Out There

There are plenty of courses across the country designed to challenge and thrill Range Rover drivers. From short rides that improve control, including steep inclines, declines and water obstacles, to trickier terrains for the more experienced, there’s something for everyone no matter what your driving ability. Narrow paths, rocky patches, plenty of ups and downs and even the odd see-saw, don’t expect all four wheels to remain on the ground!
